Devansh's pov

I saw men sneaking into my palace and a smirk made its way to my lips as I saw them trying to hide behind the trees and sneak in. I want to see what they can do. So, I went to my chamber and slept on my bed acting like I was already sleeping. I texted my guards to surrender my chamber once those attackers entered. I don't want them to escape. "No one can escape after entering Devansh's chamber. " I said to myself and waited for them to attack.

After some time I am quite irritated as these idiots who are supposed to attack me are arguing among themselves about who would dare to attack me first. I am so ready to remind them of their grandmothers.

After a while one among them came forward. But his hands are shivering. "These Bastards!" I let out an irritated sigh and sat up unable to act anymore. "Let's get over with it!" I said in my serious tone. 

We fought for some time and it is not even close to my workout. I got irritated and completed it quickly. After asking my guards to handle them I went to sleep. The next morning I wake up to see the destruction of Eshwar Rajput.

I completed my morning routine and changed into my office clothes.

I went to my study and called one of my private investigators.

"I want you to update me about every move of this Eshwar Rajput. I want every single detail about him" I commanded him and diverted my concentration to my work.

Meera 

It's my birthday the next week. I will be turning 21 next week which means my kaka and kaki will again start their drama in front of the world about how much they love me. Because the people will be attending all the events conducted in the palace this whole week. It's a tradition followed by our ancestors to celebrate the next heir's birthday for the whole week and perform various pujas to safeguard the kingdom and the ruler. My Kaka and Kaki are following the same not because they like it or they want to celebrate my birthday but because they are forced to. If they don't do this the people and the Royals who are close to my dad will suspect his intentions and the media will expose him. I want to expose them to the entire world but I can't do it with all the power still lying with him. The day I get back what belongs to me I will make them pay for everything everyone endured because of them.

I am now sitting in my chamber which was my actual room when my parents were alive. After their death and Kaka got the power of attorney he shifted me to one of the guest rooms and gifted it to his dear wife. But now I am back in my room for a week. I will be back in this room permanently next year.

"Meera beta! Get ready quickly" my kaki(aunt) said faking affection which made me cringe.

I ignored her and picked the outfit Manish Kaka's wife, my kaki Nalini chose for me. The jewelry was also sent by Kaki.

It's a beautiful lehenga but it's too much. I complained about the same to Kaki.

"Kaki, isn't it a little too much?"

"No! You are the princess of Ajmer. You have to show them who is the real royal here and this lehenga is perfect for that." She said applying kohl on the back of my ear.

She kissed my forehead later and took me to the place where the celebrations were going to take place.

I enjoyed the celebrations very much. Not because my birthday is being celebrated grandly but because I am spending time with my people. All the other days I am not even allowed to move out of the palace. I'm home-tutored and completed my degree online too. It's only those few occasions when Kaka needed my presence in front of the media that he took me out and except that it's this week that I will be allowed to live.

 We were done with the day's celebrations and I went back to my room. I took a bath, put on my pajamas, and sat on my bed remembering all the beautiful moments I had with my parents in this room. 

My eyes suddenly fell on a horse toy lying on my side table and picked it up in my hand remembering how my mom said that one day a prince charming would come on a horse and take me with him. At first, I complained that I would not go anywhere but my mom said that the prince would love me more than my parents and would always keep me happy and protect me from every possible danger.

But now I think I can protect myself but I still want a prince charming to give me all the love which I have been deprived of for years, to share all the sweet moments, to be with me every time I need him, and to protect me. Yes I can protect myself but it's the feeling of having a person who can fight all the demons to protect me is what I want.

With these thoughts, I drifted off to sleep.

The next few days went very well with all the celebrations. It's finally my birthday today.

Again Kaki chose a heavy lehenga for me. I wore it and came down.

We all went to the temple to perform certain rituals. After everything was over we were about to return when we were attacked.

Nearly 20 people surrounded us with swords in their hands! Wow! No guns and all like goons and mafia. Swords!

They were about to strike when Manish Kaka and a few other loyal guards of Mom and Dad surrounded me to protect me and Kaka's guards were around his family.

"Leave us! Protect Meera!" Kaka shouted at his guards with fear evident in his voice.

Anyone who doesn't know about the property going to charity if I die will think he cares for me more than his life but he is actually concerned about the property.

After the situation was under control we got into our cars and left for our palace. But I have a strong feeling that everything is going to change from now. I don't know if it's for good or bad but it's not going to be the same.

All the time during the attack, I could feel something off with the attackers. They didn't come to kill us. They came for something else. I don't know what they came for but it felt like they were not using any of their strength during the attack. My thoughts came to a halt when sleep consumed me.
